Learn To Skate
Group Lessons for Beginners:
For those that are 3 years of age by October 1st of each season.
Skaters take the ice for 45 minutes, two nights each week. 6:00pm – 6:45pm Mondays and Thursdays.
Massena FSC uses the USFS (United States Figure Skating) Basic Skills “Skate With Us” program, developed to teach the basic skills needed for any area of ice skating. It is done in a group environment with each group getting a 15 minute lesson each night with an instructor. The remaining time is for practice. Whenever possible, a Skate-Aide (older, more advance skater) is placed with the group to help them practice. Each child is tested weekly during the lesson by the coach and moves to the next level as soon as they are ready.
This allows each skater to advance at their own rate.
Starting in Dec. one night a week becomes practice for the ice show held in Early February.
For those wanting private lessons as well; there may be coaching spaces available.
These skaters have various options to compete in beginning, fun, Basic Skills competitions.
